The 90-Day Format meetings are a special focus group of Overeater’s Anonymous. At a 90-day format meeting it is suggested that only those with three or more months of continuous “90-day” format abstinence share their experience, strength and hope. OA as a national organization does not endorse any specific food plan, but many of the members in the focus group practice a particular program of abstinence which is known as the 90-day format.

For most people in the 90-day program, abstinence is defined as three weighted and measured meals a day under the supervision of a qualified sponsor. A sponsor, with at least 6 months of back-to-back “90-Day” abstinence will give each sponsee a food plan and other suggestions for recovery, such as regular:

• Sponsor- sponsee contact

• Attendance at 90-Day meetings

• Calls to other 90-Day members

• Reading of the AA Big Book and OA literature

In addition to the many OA 90-Day Format Meetings in the Silicon Valley Intergroup there are also the following two OA 90-Day Format Meetings outside our area:

Note: As OA Tradition 4 states: “Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other group or OA as a whole.”  The definition of an OA group according to the OA World Service Bylaws is:

  1. As a group, they meet to practice the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA.

  2. All who have a desire to stop eating compulsively are welcome in the group.

  3. No member is required to practice any actions in order to remain a member or to have a voice (share at a meeting).

  4. As a group, they have no affiliation other than OA.
